ATLANTA Juneteenth Design Competition
The Atlanta Juneteenth Design Competition, presented by New York City Jewelry Connection, invites you to leave your mark on history. From October 1, 2025, through January 20, 2026, artists and visionaries are called to submit original Pendant designs that capture the spirit and essence of Juneteenth. With just a $15 entry fee, your design could become part of a legacy that commemorates freedom, resilience, and culture through fine jewelry.
One grand prize winner will receive an all-expenses-paid 7-day trip for two to Ghana, Africa, the winner will receive a $2 commission on future sales of their design. Two runner-ups will each be awarded $1,000 cash prizes. Submissions will be reviewed by our incomparable lead designer, Lu Willard, whose legendary work has graced icons like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Aretha Franklin.

Atlanta Juneteenth Design Competition – Official Rules

1. Eligibility
- Open to All legal residents of the U.S.A.
- Must be 18 years or older to enter.
- Employees, contractors, affiliates, and immediate family members of New York City Jewelry Connection, LLC (“NYCJC”) are not eligible.
- Void where prohibited by law.
2. Entry Period
- Competition opens: October 1, 2025, 12:01 AM EST
- Entry deadline: January 20, 2026, 11:59 PM EST
- Entries submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
3. Entry Requirements
- Each design submission requires a $15 non-refundable entry fee payable through the official website www.hbcuamazing.com. Debit and credit cards accepted.
- Designs must be:
- Original and created by the entrant.
- Either handcrafted with clean, detailed lines or digitally produced.
- One color only (if using color).
- Must capture the true essence and spirit of Juneteenth.
- Limit: Unlimited submissions, provided each includes a $15 entry fee.
4. Ownership of Entries
- All submitted designs, whether selected as finalists or not, become the exclusive property of NYCJC.
- By entering, contestants grant NYCJC all rights to use, reproduce, modify, and commercialize their designs in any medium without additional compensation, unless otherwise stated in the prize section.
5. Judging & Timeline
- February 1, 2026: Ten (10) finalists announced at Apex Museum and website/social media, and NYCJC website & social media
- February 15, 2026: Three (3) finalists announced via The Apex Museum’s website & social media NYCJC website & social media platforms.
- February 28, 2026: Grand Prize Winner announced live at the Apex Museum in Atlanta, Georgia. Finalists must be present to win.
6. Prizes
- Grand Prize:
- All-expenses-paid Trip for two (2) to Ghana (7 days, includes round-trip airfare and hotel).
- Commission of $2 for every pendant sold based on the winning design.
- Runner-Up Prizes: Two (2) runner-ups will each receive $1,000 cash.
- All prizes are non-transferable and may not be substituted. Taxes, fees, and documentation are the responsibility of the winner.
7. Winner Requirements
- Grand Prize Winner must provide valid identification and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release before receiving prize.
- Winner must hold a valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity for international travel. NYCJC is not responsible for passport/visa costs.
- Failure to appear at the Apex Museum on February 28, 2026 will result in forfeiture of the prize.
8. Publicity Release
- By entering, participants agree that NYCJC may use their name, likeness, biography, and submitted design for promotional and advertising purposes without compensation, unless prohibited by law.
9. General Conditions
- NYCJC reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the competition if fraud, technical failures, or any factor impairs the integrity of the contest.
- NYCJC is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, or misdirected entries.
- All decisions by NYCJC and the judging panel are final and binding.
10. Limitation of Liability
By entering, participants agree to release and hold harmless Apex Museum & NYCJC, its affiliates, officers, employees, and partners from any liability, claims, or damages arising out of participation, acceptance, or use of any prize.
11. Governing Law
The contest is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia.
